While Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch its first eVX electric car, on the other hand, Toyota has also confirmed the launch of Maruti eVX based electric vehicle. In fact, Suzuki and Toyota have jointly issued a statement announcing their first collaboration in the battery-powered electric vehicle (BEV) segment.
Both companies have signed an agreement under which Suzuki will supply Toyota with its first electric vehicle. The name of this vehicle has not been announced yet, but it will be an electric SUV. It is believed to be produced at the Suzuki Motor Group (SMG) plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat.
Suzuki and Toyota said that Suzuki’s first electric car will have a 60kWh battery. This car will be equipped with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) system. This electric car will be supplied to Toyota, which Toyota will also sell in many other countries of the world, including India. Production of this SUV is expected to start in mid-2025. Maruti Suzuki will introduce its first electric car, Maruti eVX, at the Auto Expo next year. Toyota’s new electric car will be based on this.
Suzuki and Toyota have also clarified that the production of this electric SUV will start in the second quarter of the next calendar year. Its drivetrain has not been confirmed yet. However, it will be equipped with a 4WD system. It can be based on a single-motor system or a dual-motor system.
Electric cars introduced by Mahindra and Tata have a front-wheel drive system. In such a situation, the electric cars of Maruti and Toyota can be different from those of Toyota. Let us tell you that Maruti Suzuki is testing its upcoming eVX electric SUV in India and abroad.
Design, battery pack and range of Maruti Suzuki eVX
>> Talking about its design, it will be quite different from the concept model. It will get horizontal LED light bars covering the entire width at the rear. It has a high-mounted stop lamp, a shark fin antenna, and a slow terrace. Talking about its exterior, it gets a raked front windshield, squared-off wheels and muscular side cladding hidden inside the warp. It will get 17-inch alloy wheels.
>> Its length can be around 4,300 mm, width 1,800 mm and height 1,600 mm. Both single- and dual-electric motor setups will be available on Suzuki eVX. It can be reserved for international markets like Europe and Japan. eVX can have a 60 kWh Li-ion battery pack, giving a driving range of about 500 km. The photos spotted during testing also show a two-spoke steering wheel and dual-screen layout.
